Automating component inspection

We had the challenge of ensuring the quality of the products of a major monitor manufacturer, optimizing the inspection of the monitor modules before they went into production.

Automating component inspection

How we work

The production of high-quality LCD monitors requires components of the same level of excellence. Our client's previous system was entirely manual.

Operators would evaluate the installed LCD panels, and if an error was found in even a single unit, the entire batch would be discarded. This led to rework and high costs. We solved this problem.

Proposal Challenges

We created an automated testing process, eliminating the need for operator intervention, as was previously required.

The biggest challenge is ensuring that the products reach the production line without any defects or anomalies in the components.

Automated checking system

We developed a custom test jig (with x, y, and z movements) to capture and analyze images of the modules, using a probe (calibration device) and an attached camera.

Together with the system, this structure enables specific verification for each group of tests and monitor modules.

At the end of the tests, the application generates a spreadsheet that is sent to the organization's internal system by the operator, providing much greater precision and accuracy in component checks.

Results

  • Increased efficiency and speed in production processes
  • Reduction of human errors on the assembly line
  • Automatic inspection of electronic components
  • Lower production costs
